Happy Founders’ Day!
We couldn’t let the day move with out displaying like to the great brothers of Phi Beta Sigma celebrating 112 years of tradition for service and repair for humanity.
Founded January 9, 1914 at Howard University by Honorable A. Langston Taylor, Honorable Leonard F. Morse, and Honorable Charles I. Brown, the storied group sought out to arrange a Greek letter fraternity that may exemplify the beliefs of brotherhood, scholarship, and repair.
To accomplish this, the Founders created a corporation that considered itself as ‘part of’ the final group relatively than ‘aside from’ the final group with a devotion to the “inclusive we” relatively than the “unique we.”
Today, Phi Beta Sigma has blossomed into a global group of leaders who established the Phi Beta Sigma National Foundation, the Phi Beta Sigma Federal Credit Union, and The Sigma Beta Club Foundation with assist from their sister group Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.
Notable members embody Jerry Rice, Emmitt Smith, Bootsy Collins, Richard Sherman, Terrence Howard, Shawn Stockman of Boyz II Men, Verdine White, Wayne Brady, Al Roker, Dr. Bobby Jones, Ben Vereen, Reginald Hudlin, former President Bill Clinton, George Washington Carver, Harry Belafonte, Blair Underwood, and extra, together with Leon Robinson, Fred Hammond, Dr. John Ok. Pierre, Dr. Howard Fuller, Dr. George Koonce, Edward Ok. Archer, Dr. DeForest Soaries, and Dave Huie who have been welcomed as honorary members in 2025.
